Growing up in a polygamous family with a big number of children, we used to seek reprieve in our maternal grandmother’s house who lived in a neighboring village. With a passion of bible reading, evangelism, teaching and storytelling, my grandmother was among the first missionary converts and was baptized and given the name Charity for who role in community outreach programs. Charity the name given not only resonated and denoted her faith and belief but her philanthropy in giving and reaching out to the less fortunate in the community. She was an advocate for girl child education and resisted FGM and early child marriages.
My philanthropic autobiography is not just a summary of my passion, zeal, commitment, motives, values, or strategies for giving or volunteering; but about the personal experiences that led me to have and form those motives, values and strategies of emulating my grandmother. The story of Esther among others as told by my grandmother was an intrigue. As a child, I could not comprehend the daring undercover operations rather than that Esther was doing great things for God and her people.
The subversive story of the book of Esther captures my theological imagination as I speak about my own experiences as a young girl even as it relates to my stand today. Queen Esther is a good role model for suc¬cessful missions in diverse-access nations and cultures across all divides. I was fascinated with the idea of Esther a young woman who not only won a beauty pageant of sorts, but was really an undercover secret agent on a mission from God to serve and preserve humanity. In Esther I see a young girl caught up in a political whirlwind, likely confused and unsure, who doesn’t have an answer to a question that begs an answer. But the story is not about Esther; the story is about God’s will and mission to save His people. I see a great reversal of fortune; how the Jews were saved and the tables turned from victim to victor. Even when we look around us to the empires that we live under, to the horrible suffering and violence that is waged by the powerful against the powerless, God is still present but calling out to Esther to dare venture.

The girl child is the most abused human being on earth; abused by strangers, neighbours, family and friends and community traditional norms. In Africa and Asia girl child abuse is seen as a way of upbringing. Today these continents are experiencing economic growth in terms of innovation, technologies and social amenities but still, the girl child is still experiencing child abuse by strangers, friends and family members in war atrocity regions. This evil must stop. With a focus on girl child, we belief that when you empower a woman you have empower a generation.
